Forever in blue jeans
If I had my druthers I'd be fabulous in blue jeans all the time. Jeans dressed down with flats or sneakers and jeans (dark wash of course) dressed up with a great top and shoes for night. I just love being comfortable. The kicker is...I HATE shopping for jeans. Period. I have come to learn after many years that for me it's worth every cent to spend the cash and buy a great pair of jeans that fits your body as best as you can find rather than buying 4 pairs at some other store that fit half ass. That said you have to find that style that fits you. This is where my distress begins. Well, this past Sunday I went to Saks Fifth Avenue and hit the motherload. Definition of "Motherload" = 1 pair of jeans and a coat. But, not without issues. First off where do you start? Citizens of Humanity, Rock and Republic, Seven for all Mankind...you get my drift. I think I literally took 60 pairs of jeans in the fitting room while I was there. Did I mention my visit to try on jeans took way over an hour and made me sweat? So, I'm in the fitting room and obviously start trying on jeans. Oh good god. I'm not really sure why the pair for $275 didn't make my ass disappear all together but they didn't...not getting those. Then comes the next pair that somehow make me look like I'm a child trying on adult clothes. (I'm 5'2" I always have to get pants altered) Seriously, I put one leg through and then another and pulled the jeans up, zipped and buttoned them and the pant legs looked like octopus arms hanging off my legs. Why would I pay a ridiculous amount for jeans if I'm going to have to cut off about 3 feet to have them altered? That's like throwing away 100 bucks. Okay, so after trying on 60 pairs (once again, no lie) and getting horrific chafing marks on my upper thighs from pulling up the jeans as quickly as possible to get this experience over with I finally found a pair that fit like a glove. (Maybe because they have stretch) Whatever the reason I don't care. Oh, snap! It's worth the moola and they are super comfy. I had them altered and they will be ready for my trip to NYC on Thursday. Oh, and I also found an amazing cream, short, belted trench coast by Cynthia Steffe that was too excellent to leave behind! Until my next jean escapade...hope you all have a better experience shopping for jeans than me!
p.s I applied Aquaphor over night to my chafing thighs and I'm back in business.

Okay wait a minute, do you really leave us hanging like that and not tell us which brand you wound up with? Or are you afraid we will all run out and buy up the rest? :)
I am SO with you though on jeans, I am 5'1 3/4" so I have to have everything altered as well. Have you ever used Zafu?
Hi Jilly! You made me laugh...I ended up buying Citizens of Humanity-Big Sur. So far so good. No, I never have tried Zafu-I will give it a shot! Thanks for the tip!
New to your blog, found you through Hemstitch & Hydrangea's blogroll. But your jeans story was just tooooooo funny! I've been there, stacks of jeans in dressing room and a very brave husband waiting just outside. YEEESH! Glad you found the "motherlode!"
I hear ya! Jean shopping=NO FUN! So glad you found something. I've found 7's and C of H fit my body the best. Enjoy! Enjoy your trip!!!
Funny! I just had a "jeans" meltdown last week! Luckily, I live near the best jeans boutique EVER, Chantilly Blue! The owner sizes you up from top to bottom, back to front. She MAKES you try on a 100 pairs, to find the best fit and then she alters them for you!!!! Worth EVERY cent! Especially for this 5 foot girl!
A little stretch is key in my book. I've also found jeans before at Old Navy--really cheap! So I can then hop over to Anthropologie and buy things that are not cheap to go with them.
I am so with you on the jean shopping. I can never find ones I like!
you crack me up. i, too, love jeans. but i'm with you...spend the money. not all denim is created equal. (forget what your husband's say!)
