So, how was my big outing in NYC with the Mr.?

Well, it wasn't. It didn't happen. A big no-go. Right now you are probably saying..."WHAT! this is the second time in a row that your NYC trip was a bust" and you can bet I said the same thing. So, to refresh your memory my last trip to NYC (only 3 weeks ago) was without our little man and was supposed to be a romantic getaway. Well, the Mr. got the flu and we were hotel bound the entire time. When we got back, a week later I got Sinusitis and Bronchitis. Good times. Then my husband starts coughing again. I try to get him to the Dr. but he protests like I'm insane for suggesting it. Well, he comes home from work this past Friday and can't speak. His throat was a mess. Mind you his parents were driving here to CT from Cape Cod to take care of our little man while we were supposed to go out on the town Saturday night. Suffice to say, I took him to the Dr. saturday am and he had...wait for it...no, really, waaaiiiittt for it...Strep Throat and Bronchitis. Excellent. He came home and went right to sleep. He's been asleep all weekend and I've been with the little man. My in-laws left Saturday after we got home from the Dr's. It was a good thing, I would have felt awful if one of them got sick. Anyway, that was my weekend. Huge bummer. At least the Mr. is on the meds and on the mend:) That's the most important thing.

Switching subjects here...I've been up pretty late tonight making jewelry for next Tue. I just found out this weekend I may have another show here in Darien in May! Good Stuff!

Ladybug's Picnic...I will be sure to update you on the Trunk show in MA. I find out the final info tomorrow. It is in Weston on Boston Post Road, next Tue. Still awaiting the time. Please feel free to stop by if you like, I'd love it! More to come...

Neck Candy

So, as requested...here is the necklace I will be wearing Saturday night with the outfit below. I made it tonight. It's a mix of 14mm & 10mm Turquoise Southsea Shell Pearl, Freshwater pearls and a 16mm gold rope toggle clasp. I'm lovin' it. It definitely says spring to me!

side note: I just got a package from Hong Kong today with some awesome (said in my best Boston accent) gemstones...I sware the colors are so vibrant they do look like candy. Lots of beautiful jade in pale blues, pink, green and I also got a ton of pearls in. Time to get down to business and make some bling. I'm WAY behind for this upcoming show in less than a few weeks-AHHH!

Saturday at Saks

Well, once again I found something at Saks this weekend. Love that place! I have an engagement party in NYC this Saturday that the Mr. and I are attending. My in-laws are arriving here in CT Friday, they are going to babysit Hunter while we play in the City! Anyhow, I'm pretty excited for a night on the town...as our last outing in NYC was a bust (the Mr. got the flu). I found this little number and thought it was cute. I was a little uncertain about the print but I like it on...and the shoes go well with it. I got that jacket a few weeks ago. I'm planning on wearing a necklace from Pink Lobster. I'm not sure which one yet, I might whip one up when I figure out what will look good with the dress. I had another dress that I was going to wear, it's a silk tunic style dress but it's a little more formal. Thought this one was a little more casual? Well, off to the Aquarium today with the little man:)

p.s. Feeling so much better! Having a sinus infection and Bronchitis is no fun but the meds have been the best:)

p.s.s. Stayed up until 2:30 am last night designing and making jewelry for the upcomming trunk show! Got a feeling it's going to be one of those Mondays! I'll post some photos soon of the new designs and colors for the Spring...

Happy Monday!

Bronchitis and Sinusitis

Yup, went to the Dr. yesterday morning and was diagnosed with the above. I'm glad I went because I finally got on some meds. Slowly starting to feel better:)

Happy Wednesday to you all!

It's St. Patty's Day-I'm Grateful, Excited AND Lucky!

I'm feeling a little retrospective today. A few things wandered their way into my mind and made me smile. First of all, I was thinking about how I've been engaged twice. I was engaged in 1998. I broke off that engagement. Hardest thing I ever did. Not because I was hesitant but because he was a lovely man. Truly. We were supposed to have a black tie affair at the Copley Plaza in Boston. It was 3.5 months before our wedding when I dropped the bomb. I wish I had listened to my heart a lot earlier, I'm sure it would have made things so much easier for all parties involved. That said, I was never one to move forward with something I didn't feel comforatible with, even if that meant going against the grain. So, I ended it. But honestly, it was the beginning of the best to come. I had always wondered what happened to a certain someone that I dated when I was 21. Was he in a serious relationship, what would have happened if I never broke up with him years before...would we have stayed together? Long story short: after my breakup I decided to vacation in San Francisco by myself. At the time I was living and working in Boston. I'm not going to lie: I had an agenda. I called up my old "certain someone" and asked if he would like to grab a drink when I was in town. He said that he would love to. He picked me up, we had drinks, dinner, conversation and BOOM, that was it. We were finished. My vacation ended, I went back to Boston, quit my job in Advertising and moved to San Francisco to be closer to him. Six months later he proposed on bended knee on a vacation in Mendocino and nine months later we were married. He's my Mr. I'm very lucky. He's been the best thing that ever happened to me. Don't get me wrong, marraige is work and it can be difficult but at the end of the day travelling through life with your best friend and confidant is what it's all about. For the Mr. I'm grateful. It's been an amazing ride and here's to us this year-8 years!

I was also at the playground with Hunter today and again feeling some kind of raging sappiness come over me. It took us so long to get him. Three and a half years to be exact. After a lot of practicing then meeting with a fertility team in San Francisco and hearing my diagnosis we got help. It was our ninth round of fertility treatments & our third round of a completed IVF cycle that brought us the little man. What a miracle. I adore him more than I ever even knew possible. Forget the sun, he's the sunshine that warms me everyday. For the little man I'm grateful too.

What am I excited about? Well, just the future. I'll be turning 38 this year and I feel as if it keeps getting better. Besides the wrinkles (ugh, I'm not lying) it really is getting better. I've learned a lot from my chosen path, my mistakes and my good decisions. It makes me appreciate me more and I've become a stronger more confident woman from all of my experiences.

And as my Mom always says "you make your own luck". I did, I do and I'll keep on keeping!

Anyway, here's to life, luck and the pursuit of happiness!

Under the weather....

My family has been under the weather lately (see post re: my NYC trip). After being pretty healthy this winter I finally got bombarded a few days ago with a sore throat and ear thing. Hence, no posts in two days! I just downed about 75 Cadbury Mini Eggs (Damn you Easter Bunny) so I'm thinking that by tomorrow morning I will be magically cured and back to posting something other than me feeling sickly.

Happy ALMOST Friday!

I was "nurse Beth" in NYC

WARNING: kinda long.

Yeah, you read that right. Little old me became a certified nurse for two nights and two days in NYC this past week. My super husband planned to whisk me away to NYC for two nights sans the little man for a little R&R and fun to boot. Well, his body had other plans. Unfortunately, he got hit hard with the flu. Miserable. So, we ended up staying in our Hotel Room most of the time. It was a huge bummer but honestly, I was just happy to be with him for a few days. Just wished he felt better. Anyway, we are already looking forward to another trip into the city without disruption.

That said, I have a few stories from my travels. So, I'm in Darien waiting for the train to take me into NY to meet the Mr. I'm all gussied up with my gear in tow waiting for the train to arrive when two men saunter near me and drop their briefcases on the ground while both heavy in conversation on their respective cell phones. They were not trying to keep their voices low. In fact, I think they may have been tying to alert Russia of their business trysts. One of the men speaks into his cell phone so loud..."Hey, Jimmy...we got the proposal and it looks f-ing great! John and I have been looking it over and were so excited that we've been dry humping it like two dogs in heat for the past two hours. Nice job buddy, we're gonna nail this shit into the coffin. This deal is sealed. See you in an hour-can't wait to celebrate!" Thank God I was wearing my Jackie O sunglasses because I couldn't help but stare at these two buffoons out of the corner of my eye. I kid you not when I tell you I did laugh out loud. I also looked at them like they were complete idiots. I'm convinced they still thought they were two smooth as velvet business tycoons. Good luck to you fellas.

Finally got on the train. My first train ride to Grand Central. So easy. I daydreamed and people watched. It was great. I arrived at Grand Central and felt like Mary Tyler Moore in the big city, free as a bee and so excited to explore. Phone rings. It's the Mr. he's at work and still sounds like he has the Flu from hell. He's planning on meeting me at the Hotel prior to the work dinner that we were to attend (yes, he was sick but he didn't tell any of his colleagues...men). I dropped my bags off with the bell hop at the Waldorf Astoria and B-lined it for 5th Avenue. I'm no dummy. I "happened" to walk right into Saks Fifth Avenue. I love it there. First of all great shopping experience once again. Found a terrific Marc Jacobs top, snagged it. Then I met a really nice woman from NY shopping as well and I asked her if she knew of a place near by to get a mani & pedi. Immediately she pulled out her phone and said "I know just the place and I'm making the appointment for you right now"! My jaw dropped...and I asked myself "wait, do strangers really do this"? Apparently, so. Her name was Vivi, thanks Vivi, you made my day...great place you sent me to! After my mani/pedi I proceeded to Starbucks to grab a Skinny Vanilla Latte and cruise more stores. So much fun. I went to Dylans Candy store and was in sour patch candy heaven. The window filled with bling at Harry Winstons was so amazing that I got whip-lash. It was worth it. How could you not spy something there? I basically shopped till I dropped. Went back to the hotel, dressed and met the Mr. for his work dinner. It was great. We ate at a place called Danube. It was Austrian inspired, very funky. Then we...wait for it....went back to the hotel and slept. That's right, we may have been the only kids in NY heading in while everyone else is heading out. That's okay though, next time.

Friday I was literally bumming around the city all over again and the Mr. came out of the hotel for lunch and dinner...both a block from where we were staying. After both meals he crawled back into bed. Poor guy. We ordered No Country For Old Men on the TV and watched it. It was great. He's all better now by the way. Not 100% but I'll give him a 90%. We left Saturday am to get back to CT. It was an easy trip.

All in all NY was great, just a downer that we couldn't have more fun together. We are determined to make it happen next time:) I missed the little man too...good to be back stealing hugs from him!

SO much to post-too little time!

Hello one and all! I'm back from NYC and Cape Cod...I have lots to update but have to take care of a ton of things before I sit down and type away today...until then, have a great one!!

Happy Tuesday!
