Exploring New Territory

That's what Hunter and I are off to do today. This little town of Rowayton is just adorable. Lots to see and do. And the shopping in Darien next door looks dangerous. So many adorable storefronts. A BIG snow storm is expected here any minute so we're off to check this place out before we get stuck in the snow somewhere.

Finally settling into CT

Well, we made it through the move. Unfortunately, little man H got sick...first bug of the season...no fun. As a rule I would have had our entire house unpacked, cleaned, decorated (x-mas decorations included) etc., but it's taken a little longer with the little one being sick and my husband travelling like a mad man. Fine with me though. I'm getting ready to join some parents group, hit the library hour and of course finish some x-mas jewelry orders tomorrow. Oh yeah, and my x-mas cards...I love them and was on the ball and special ordered them over a month ago and now I can't find the disk with the picture of Hunter we plan to use. Hmmm, moving blows. Did I mention that we are having house guests arrive tomorrow...um, yeah.

Kimba are you out there?

I noticed your blog is open to invites only...I'd love to keep reading if I may!????? Not sure what the protocol is here?

Excited for this little adventure but sorry to leave our lovely home that we are almost done renovating. Well, home really is where my family is so I'm off to my new home:) CT, here we come!

Girls night out was so much fun...best part...no headache the next morning:) I failed to take pics...but have another outing on Tuesday and the camera is already prepped and ready to shoot!

Off to pack the cherished items...leaving the rest up to the "packers and movers"! (I hate packing)

Happy Shopping!!!!

Heading out for a Margarita or a Martini...

...haven't figured out which avenue I plan to persue tonight:) My girlfriend Brooke and I are heading out for a little girls night out. Am I looking forward to it????....you bet your ass I am. It's been one of those days in Mommyland where I would have loved to have a frosty boat drink at noon and possibly not stop until sundown...luckily these days are few and far between. Well, time to go primp and put on something other than jeans and a long sleeve tee shirt:) I'm hoping that the cocktails treat me well tonight! Have a super weekend all.

Cheers!!!

Construction is almost done on this house, moving to a new one next week. Hmm.

So, finally back on line. Computer files have been transfered to my new MacBook and feel connected to the world again:) As I mentioned, our major renovations are almost complete...just in time to move. That's a sick joke on us. After living through 7 months of renovations we don't even get to enjoy our house because we're leaving to move to Rowayton. Oh well...hopefully we'll be back in a year and a half to start phase 2 of the renovations...if not that means we are loving CT and we might just stay for good. I think it's a good situation either way.

The packers arrive Tue, and we move Wed. and Thurs. Wish us luck:)

On another note...this old lady is turning 37 on Saturday....can't wait actually. Looks like I'm celebrating with friends Fri night, my husband Sat night and Tue night more fun, fun, fun with friends!!! Hopefully, I'll have some b-day pics to post next week.

Okay, off to make jewelry and x-mas shop on line:) Ciao!

Rowayton, CT here we come!

We went, we saw, we loved, we're going. We found an adorable beach cottage (as I like to refer to it) that is right in the heart of town...you can walk to the beach, the general store and restaurants. All of the amenities of Darien are only 1.5 miles away-the shopping looks dangerous. We were planning on moving Jan 1st but we had to take the house as of Oct 1...so we will compromise and move Dec 1. Bummer to leave before the holidays but it's only a 3.5 hr drive to Cape Cod to see family for Christmas-phew! I'm so excited to be settled and have fun with this little adventure...who knows if we'll be there for 1 year, 2 years or if we fall in love with the area and move????? Stay tuned.

P.S. Go Red Sox!!!!! Woo-Hoo!

Fabulous Fall Pink Lobster Designs on it's way!

Well, well, well October is here! Seriously, I can't believe it...the summer...well, it's gone. Look out New England fall is on it's way:) I LOVE, LOVE LOVE the fall in New England...beautiful leaves in autumn hues, wearing a puffy vest and drinking a Gingerbread latte at the playground, planning for all the holidays (x-mas is my favorite) and just enjoying the nesting time in your cozy home with your family. I've been on the Cape at my parents house while our renovations are being compleeted. Can't wait to be back in my digs. I'm using my Moms MacBook because I haven't had mine set up yet. I'm looking forward to posting photos and blogging more regularlly. I've been a blog slacker as of late. However, I have been feeding my creative juices and designing quite a few new baubles for Pink Lobster. I'm loving the new designs and colors...and as always I'll always have my original colors and designs as a constant in the Pink Lobster line. I'm getting ready for a few Trunk Shows coming up. One is in NY and the other in Boston. Can't wait, love doing them...and for the show in NY I'm donating 10% of my profits to The Ronald McDonald House. Time to get your charity on...'tis the season for giving is approaching quickly. Hope you get the "giving" bug:)

Almost 9 inches!

I did it. Broke down and chopped off almost 9 inches....not enough to donate for Locks of Love but I just couldn't go shorter. Next time I'll grow it longer and donate. I'm oficially lookin' like a soccer mom:)

Headed to CT on Friday

So excited! The Mr. is travelling all week and the little man and I are going to leave the Cape Friday am to meet him in CT for the weekend. We are going to check out Rowayton and Darien and hopefully find an area that we would like to settle in come Jan 1. Should be a fun little adventure. Not looking forward to the 3.5 hr car ride by myself with a 20 month old but I'm sure I'll survive:) I-95 here we come!

I know this is so last week...

but I just had to say...what the hell was Britney Spears thinking on the VMA's? I just watched her performance on MTV.com. Seriously, the girl needs help. Her act: B-O-R-I-N-G. Someone needs to stick to parenting...or maybe not.

Camera FOUND!!! Cape bound again....

Seriously, thank God for finding my camera yesterday. That was a close one. I thought I may have left it at the beach and I've been sweating it ever since. It fell behind my drersser. Or maybe I just didn't see it buried under the rubble in our room because I've been somewhat dissorganized lately? Nah, must have been the former-wink, wink! The thought of losing so many photos from the summer was making me ill. Anyway, that mystery has been solved, case closed!

The big guy is out of town for a week, business stuff. So, I packed up H this afternoon after his nap and headed to the Cape to stay at my parents place. They are back at their Boston home all week so H and I are going to have some mommy/son bonding time. I was thinking of packing us up and hopping the ferry to the Vineyard for the day but I think that may be a little aggressive of me. Next time. The Mr. has been working very hard lately, travelling a lot. I feel a little like a single mom-it can be tough. Howerver, there is light at the end of the tunnel....we just booked a three night four day trip to AZ to get away next month. I can't wait. As much as I love, love, love Hunter I love having alone time with the Mr....it's nice to reconnect and relax.

Pink Lobster has been keeping me busy. I have a few trunk shows in October (after our little vaca) and then it's off to the races to prep for Holiday trunk shows and orders. I'm loving it. I have so many new designs that I need to upload to etsy.com.

Okay, time for me to hit the pillow...hard.

Until next time:)

Camera lost:( Cape bound:)

I'm bummed. Can't find my camera...anywhere...even amongst all the rubble in our house due to the renovations and Hunter's toys-wink, wink! I'm feeling lost without it. Hopefully, it will surface very soon. Hunter and I are headed to the Cape tomorrow am....maybe tonight if I can get our act together quickly enough. Can't wait for some Cape time. Oh, I just bought a MacBook this past weekend-love it! I still have to get all my files transferred and all that jazz but so far so good. H and I went to the beach this am and stayed for lunch...and now he's napping like a champ...can it get any better????

Lilly Lovah!

Has anyone seen the new Lilly Pulitzer fall catalog? I LOVE just about everything in it. The fall dresses are pretty cute. Seriously, I gotta get me some new Lilly:)

Back from VT and headed to CT soon....

Well, well, well FINALLY after 4 long hours in the car with the little man did we make it back from VT! Hunter was suprisingly great in the car and he only wigged on the way home at the tail end of the trip-phew. We had a super time with family and a great time at a wedding at The Round Barn (beautiful spot!)...best wedding band we've heard and they were all SUPER young musicians-kinda crazy. The night of the wedding the Mr. and I stayed at an Inn (with a ridiculously comfy feather bed) not far from the reception and my in-laws watched the little one...what a huge treat! We slept like babies. I'm glad to be back and get back in the swing of things. Dry wall is going up in the renovated part of the house this week and painting in 2 weeks or so...very exciting. I think we are making a trip to CT in a few weeks to check out Darien, Rowaton and Fairfield? I think those are the towns we've narrowed it down to:) Just placed a decent sized order for stones and need to start making more jewelry for the upcoming trunk show...ahhhhhhh! Busy is good...and just plain busy:)

Beach Blanket Bingo

So, we went to the beach this am. Love that place. Love, love, love. From 10:30-1pm....had lunch there too and the little man fell asleep for his nap on the way home...he's still sleeping...quiet time...three cheers for me! For some reason Hunter has been getting up EVERY night for the past three weeks at midnight and 3pm and I end up taking him out of his crib and he falls asleep next to me instantly. It's great that he falls asleep so quickly when he's next to me but he keeps ME up! He rolls all over me which makes it hard to go back to sleep. I'm starting to feel like I'm running on empty. I have the worst time letting him cry which means this nightime thing may be my own fault. Oh well, I'm sure it will figure itself out. On another note we are headed to Vermont on Thursday to visit family. I never look forward to the car ride with an 18 month old but I'm sure it will be a lot of fun once we get there. We will be with family thurs. and Fri and then we have a wedding to attend on Saturday. My inlaws are watching Hunter for the night so it will be a nice treat to hang with the husband solo:) Vermont here we come! (Hunter please start sleeping for Mama.)

CT

So the Mr. and I are planning on looking at places in Darien, CT...anyone have any thoughts on the area or surrounding area? I know zip about CT.

Is it really July 30th???

W O W......time flies. This has been such a busy summer so far I'm not sure where it's gone. I've felt so out of the loop lately because I haven't been online for quite some time...for a few reasons...but I'm back. For good. For real. Things have been a little hectic around here. After our sad news last month we got some exciting news (funny how life does that)...my better half got a big promotion and we are moving to CT (he will commute to NYC). It's pretty exciting even though we are in the middle of a massive revovation on our home here in MA and we love where we live. Luckily, my husbands company is being flexible and we don't have to move until Jan. 1. Yea...holidays will be here close to family!!! Looks like my other half will have an apt. in NYC starting in Sept....it will be tough having him in NYC a lot but I'm so excitied to take the little guy with me on trips to see him in the big apple. There's so much to do there it's ridiculous. And the shopping isn't bad either;) I also recently found out that I will be holding a trunk show in NY in September in which part of the proceeds will benefit The Ronald McDonald House...how great! And I'm in the process of lining up a trunk show late Nov. or early Dec. in this area. I mean why not make myself crazy busy...renovation, moving, trunk shows, travel and an 18 month old. It's good stuff. No complaints...I actually work better under pressure which means these coming months should be a breeze-wink, wink! Hope you fellow bloggers are having a wonderful summer...I'm glad to be back...and thank you for your kind emails recently, just lovely.

Been Away

I've been away in a few ways. First of all we were on the Cape for a little bit having a really great time. What a spot. And then I've mentally been away for a little bit...for those of you who knew I was pregnant I lost the baby at 11 weeks. It's been very tough...but I finally feel good and have been looking at the positive because that's really all you can do...we have a beautiful 18 month old boy who is our little miracle and the light of our lives. We are truly, truly blessed. My friend sent me this quote during our loss..."To bend like the reed in the wind, that is the real strength". So very true.

So, now that things are getting back to normal...expect my bloggin' to return to full force! Hope you are all having a great summer so far!!! Happy belated 4th of July!

Headed to the Cape

Yup, I'm off to the Cape tomorrow....at some point! I have a Dr's apt. in Boston so Mom (a.k.a. Earth Angel) is taking the little man for the day and I'm headed into town to shop (watch out Newbury Street and Charles Street) and then hopefully make my appointment (wink-wink)! The Mr. is out of town on biz so I'm going to head down to the Cape after my day in Boston and stay a few days-very excited! I'm going to finish a few Pink Lobster orders, get my hair fixed (way too blonde right now-we're talking Shakira roots-not a good look) and relax a little. Hopefully the weather will be nice. Okay, off to pack and head to bed! Ciao!

All at once.....again!

Ever feel like everything is coming at you all at once? I'm feeling it. I'm not complaining....just venting a little. I used to be super organized, scheduled, I looked pretty presentable, focused...and now most days I feel extremely unorganized, I'm not sure what day it is, messy and well, unfocused. I'm thinking this is due to the fact that I have an almost 18 month old? At least I hope it is because I have nothing else to blame it on:) Hopefully, I'll find balance soon because not being able to do everything is killing me. I guess I need to really weed out all the truly important stuff and let the other things go....like ironing my bed linens with lavendar linen spray. It's just not gonna happen on a regular basis anymore unless I get a fairy cleaning lady...do they make those? If so send one my way PLEASE!

Quote about the beach that I found...

"If you want to know how much I love you, count the waves."

-anonymous

Sand Man

I think it may be a right of passage for kids to eat as much sand as possible at the beach. Do you agree? Please say yes. Seriously, I was worried at first then I realized he was sort of enjoying it. So, I just let it go. Lots of sand has been eaten instead of PB&J's. Luckily he seems to have slowed down in that department...for the time being at least. Hunter and I have been hitting the beach by day and tonight the Mr. came along, we met friends and we all had dinner on the beach. It was excellent! I sware this time of the year is one of the main reasons I LOVE living near the beach. Love to just hang out on the beach, play with the munchkin and take in the sounds of the surf. Nothing better. However, I was quite a terrible SPF applier on myself today...I made sure Hunter was covered but when I got home today I realized I was SPF challenged. I have burn lines on my legs and chest...it's a great look if you're trying to scare your husband away and look like a total ass:) Okay, off to bed:tired from the Sun(burn):)

Well, here goes nuthin'! Pink Lobster is now available through ETSY.COM. (My PayPal account doesn't get activated until next Tuesday-oh well.) Anyway, I'm very excited to take advantage of this online store until I have my own website! I'm an awful tech person so the online store front is what it is. We'll see how it goes? I've been slammed since my trunk show last week filling orders-a very good place to be-unless of course you enjoy sleeping:) Speaking of...I need my bed...now.

Oh yeah, and seriously, I'm so glad the weekend is coming I can barely stand it. Bring it!

Monday, May 28, 2007

Wow-I've been outta touch lately!

I can't believe how many days have gone by and I haven't gotten a chance to sit down and type. Well, my trunk show last week was off the charts! I'm still on a high after selling a ton of Pink Lobster jewelry and I have a bunch of orders to fill as well:) I got so many terrific comments on the colors, designs and stones...it really made all the hard work worthwhile. I must have been asked 6 times where I'm selling them! Anyway, as much as I truly believe in the product it sure is nice to hear such positive feedback from others. So, that's that and I've still got miles to go before I sleep on that front-Lot's of work still to be done. My son has finally turned the corner...a nasty stomach bug took him down for a good week-NOT fun! But he's back so all is well. My dad had his 60th birthday this weekend! It was really great...all he wanted was family, no big to do...so that's what he got! Get this...my Dad likes John Mayer (and loves music in general) so I got both of us tickets to see him in Boston in July...a little father/daughter bonding time. Should be a riot...me, dad and a million screaming 18 year olds. Very excited none the less:) Then memorial day weekend came along and it flew by. I was in the hospital all day Sat. Did I mention ALL day-not so much fun. We had a big scare with my VERY new big news that I'm pregnant! Yup-the procedure we flew out to San Francisco for worked! After the big scare we felt pretty blessed to see the little almost 7 week old heartbeat and find that it was growing right on track. (Yes, tears of joy were shead.) All is well and the doctors gave us a big thumbs up-fingers crossed there will be no more scares like that! I'll be following up on that business tomorrow. Then Sunday came around and it was over before I knew it...and today...same thing! I'm hoping to luck out and get a babysitter a few days this week to help me out so I can get some work done around the house and with Pink Lobster...and I need to start organizing (weeding out & storing) all of those old baby things that I've got. This is definitely looking like a BUSY summer to come. Hope I hit the beach this week...don't want to miss out on the details of Summer:)

Little man down for the count

My poor little man and I were sharing what I thought was such a sweet moment today and then it turned a little sour, literally. He didn't seem himself and I knew he was tired so we were laying down on the couch together side by side and I was rubbing his head hoping he might nap. He was giving me kisses which is too cute because now he makes the "kissing sound" and he knows he's got it down, and I'd ask him where my eyes were and my nose and he'd touch them with his little hands. Anyway, long story short...within a few minutes of this cuddle session he vomited everywhere. The poor kid. I HATE when he gets sick. It honestly kills me. He's not talking yet (only a few words) and it just tears me up that he can't tell me what's wrong. He started crying because he was scared and continued to get sick again and my stomach actually ached for him. Then all he wanted to do for an hour was snuggle in my arms until he finally fell asleep and napped for almost 2 hours. He awoke and has been fine ever since...fingers crossed it was a quick bug that he got. Did I mention that during all of this our contractors showed up early (does that EVER happen with contractors-I think NOT) and started demo on our house which lasted all day(renovating/addition going on). Suffice to say, it was challenging taking care of my little man the way a mom does best when they get sick with 30 strangers working on our house. But, I did my best.

Just In...What Do You Think Of The Logo????

I think I'm lovin' it!

Maya Angelou

A good friend of mine sent me a bunch of quotes by Maya and this one resonated with me...

"I've learned that making a "living" is not the same thing as "making a life."

So true. I've heard it before but thought I'd share it. For me, making a life sure is much more fulfilling than making a living...no matter how much you love your job. I L-O-V-E-D my job in Advertising but without my family and friends, outside interests, and stopping to smell the roses every once and a while...what's life? You know what I'm sayin'?

Busy Wednesday!

Well, the Mr. is out of town on business so my Mom came to spend a few days with Hunter and I. Honestly, it was mainly to help me with H. Mom took H to the Cape today so that I had the house to myself and could get a few things done. I didn't know what to do first! I made two more necklaces for Pink Lobster, 3 bracelets, spoke with the designer doing my logo and made a few tweeks (can't wait to see the revisions!), cleaned two bathrooms, did 3 loads of laundry, went grocery shopping, went to the fish market, started to organize our bedroom and did a little weeding on our walkway.....WHEW! Honestly, I'm exhausted but I'm soooo excited that I got so much done-----and I still have my mom here tomorrow:) Lucky, lucky me! My mom is seriously an earth angel. She's beautiful in every way and my best friend. Once again, lucky, lucky me! Until tomorrow fellow bloggers.....

Grill this!

All I can say is that I love the damn grill. I'm considering not putting it away, even during these New England winters! So, here's the deal. I've been grilling like every night and I LOVE that I don't have a mess to clean up. It's the best! And let's get real (oh, that was so Dr. Phil, sorry!), everything tastes better on a grill rather than under the oven broiler or in the George Foreman grill! So, here's what I cooked tonight...I should have taken a picture because if I don't say so myself it looked quite lovely- a very healthy and colorful meal!

Grilled chicken served on a bed of spinach salad-dressed with a citrus salsa, blue cheese and a touch of balsamic vinegarette. Yum!

What You'll need:

-Chicken
-Spinach Salad
-Crumbled blue cheese
-balsamic vinaigrette
-*Citrus Salsa

* Citrus Salsa
-1 large seedless orange, peeled, and chopped up
-1 large seedless pink grapefruit, peeled and chopped up
-1 large seedless yellow or white grapefruit, peeled and chopped up
-3 tbs. of Extra Virgin Olive Oil
-1/2 small red onion diced
-3 tbs. chopped cilantro
-Salt & Pepper
-1 ripe avocado, peeled and diced

How to:

-season chicken with Salt, Pepper and Olive Oil then grill.
-once chicken is cooked let it sit for 5 minutes before slicing.
-arrange plate with spinach salad
-sprinkle crumbled blue cheese over the spinach
-cut chicken into slices and lay over blue cheese and spinach salad
-scoop as much of the citrus salsa on the salad as you like
-drizzle a tiny bit of balsamic vinegar dressing over your creation
-Enjoy!

Fun in the sun!

We're having lot's of fun outside today. It's beautiful out! Close to 80 degrees I think! One of those days that makes you lazy in the sun, one of those days that deserves a fruity cocktail with an umbrella and one of those days that makes you look at the grass, sky, trees and flowers and take in all it's beauty. Well, the little man has made me completely tired today so I actually think I'm going to try and grab a cat nap now.....until later!

Stationary & Bags.....

Okay, so I'm very new at this blogging stuff and don't know the half of what's out there but had to share a few new websites I found through bloggers who posted a comments on my site. The first is English Tea Paperie (www.englishteapaperie.com) you gotta check out her stuff. Period. Her hand designed note cards and stationary are beautiful...and not to mention she has a bunch of other goodies online as well...fabric belts, fabric wallets etc. For those who appreciate beautiful stationary check it out, it won't disappoint.

The next find I came across was LuLu Belle Bags. Yummy! Great custom handbags and terrific preppy belts to boot! If you're in the market for a new spring bag definitely check out this site (www.lulubellebags.com), the fabrics which you have to choose from are great!

Enjoy some shoppin'!

Made In San Francisco, again?

Well, we've just returned from a trip to SF which happens to be our old home. A pinch of pleasure was thrown into the trip but mainly we were out there trying to expand our family. Why travel across the country you ask? Well, in order for us to have had Hunter we had to do IVF (no complaints we got H out of it!) and in doing so we had a few embryos which were left over from the process...we decided to freeze them and store them in SF. Cryogenics...it's crazy... it's Austin Powers style crazy! Anyway, we flew out to SF last week to give it another shot after a month of prep with medication. My husband is officially a Doctor now, he's an expert at administering my daily injections. Seriously, I mean it he's really good, I barely feel the injections. (insert minor complaint here) However... the aftermath of the shots makes my ass feel like I have a bunch of rocks in it from all the shots but who's looking anyways:) Long story short all went well, we're back and we're just crossing our fingers for some good news! I happened to find this T-shirt at a little baby boutique in Noe Valley and I had to get it for Hunter...it's so perfect since he was conceived and born in SF:) Can't wait to see the little man in his new tee. Hopefully someday another little one of our's can wear this tee too!

Busy, busy, busy Bee!

Master Hunter is officially a Busy Bee. Has been for quite some time but I'm just officially coining him so now. It's been a crazy, busy few days with family in town so I'm only posting a few photos tonight. I told Nelson as we were driving home from the beach today that when I watch Hunter explore his world, laugh, kiss and run like the wind my stomach fills with butterflies and my heart feels like it's going to explode. He gets the same feeling. I love this ride, truly I do.

Playing with Mama before bedtime

So, how weird is this?

In my post yesterday I was wishing for Hunter to wake up so he would end up snuggling with Mama the rest of the night while Dad is out of town...well, low and behold the little bugger awoke at 1:30am for some odd reason...nightmare maybe? Anyway, he came into sleep with me and I must say...the boy is morphing into his father more and more every day. I'm going to say it...the kid is a thrasher, constant roller, cover hogging little peanut. Don't misunderstand me, HE was sleeping through all of this, but guess who wasn't.....you guessed it....ME! At 3 am it got a little old but seriously I must be completely mad because I really did love it. He woke up this morning calling out for "Da" which I immediately forgave after I received a spontaneous hug and kiss from him followed by that toothy smile that I love. Good stuff.

Christmas thoughts in April...

“The best of all gifts around any Christmas tree is the presence of a happy family all wrapped up in each other”

-Burton Hills

I know it's far from Christmas time (which is my favorite holiday by the way) but this makes me excited for it. I feel this way anytime I get together with family but for some reason Christmas day with my family is just hard to put into words. I love the excitement of the day, the closeness of our family, the celebrating, the laughs, the love and especially all the smiles. The day is a present in itself.

My little man and his girlfriend....

too cute for words watching these two. (And yes, my guy is the one with the crazy head of hair!) I sure did get lucky he's truly a love. Daddy is outta town for a few days so we are having a little bonding time. I'm exhausted, but part of me actually hopes he wakes up tonight and wants to sleep with mama...nothing better than snuggling with H. I'll cross my fingers.

Eskimo kisses

Not sure if you've ever experienced it but I had one of those sweet moments with my child today. Nothing monumetal, simply a nap we shared together literally falling asleep with our noses touching and his hands wrapped around my neck. He melts me.

Vegas or bust!

I'm getting very excited to meet my girlfriend Kelly in Vegas this weekend! We are literally headed there to relax by the pool, relax by the pool and did I mention relax by the pool?! I'm ready to get out of this sinus, cold and sore throat infected east coast weather for a few days and soak up the sun (with massive amounts of SPF of course:)) and share some laughs. Kelly and I live on the opposite coasts of this country so I'm looking forward to some girlfriend time. What's better? Besides family time not much:) Watch out Vegas here we come!

"Pink Lobster"

That's it!!! I finally named my jewelry company-I just love the name! (The line is designed to be classic preppy, yummy to look at, upscale, fun jewelry.) I'm very excited because I have my first trunk show booked for April and it looks as if there will be a few to follow-very exciting! I'm in the process of having a ton of beads delivered that I ordered and will be heading into Boston to the wholesale jewelry district this week. So much to do before 4/15! I did contact a designer from San Francisco and she's going to design my company logo and business card. Things are progressing nicely...can't wait to post some photos of my designs in a few weeks! Well, that's my update on the biz...cheers!

Wednesday, March 14, 2007

I've been slacking on my posts because...

Our household has been plagued with sinus infections, ear infections and sore throats. Yup, you don't want to come here. Seriously, steer clear. However, we all seem to be turning the corner and getting over our illnesses which is a great thing- just in time for the crummy weather we are told is coming our way:) I'm crossing my fingers for sunshine come Friday. The big guy will be out of town on business so the little guy and I are headed to Cape Cod for the night to visit GiGi and Papi...I can't wait! It's always like a mini vacation when I visit the parents. We will head home Saturday afternoon. I'm making an appetizer to bring to Hunters' cousin Hannahs' first birthday party Sunday afternoon-not sure what to make yet? Prior to the b-day celebration we are attending her Christening...I'm looking forward to it. Okay, lot's of fun to be had coming up so I hope we all recover in no time! I'm taking my meds, my box of Kleenex and heading upstairs to retire for the night! Until next time....

It's a virtue...

...patience that is. I was extremely frustrated today when a certain situation arose and I chose to ride it out and be patient. For me, that was very difficult. Did I mention VERY difficult? I tend to react quickly and regret in leisure. Today was different. I definitely bit my lip and took a long while to digest the situation. I feel much better that I did so. There will be resolve and I will feel good about the way in which it happened. I came across this quote that I thought I'd share..."The two most powerful warriors are patience and time". -Leo Tolstoy

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Cruzing together

H and I went out for a drive a little while ago. Truthfully, we hung out in the car for 15 minutes before we left the driveway and we're making faces at eachother, laughing and I was shooting pics of him per the usual. Ahh, the silly moments that make memories. He fell asleep 5 minutes into our ride and is now peacefully napping in his crib:) I guess drive part deux will happen later this afternoon!

Bahama Photos

Just can't beat a Bahama Mama

We're back! We had soooo much fun being bums in the sun (with massive amounts of SPF of course!) and consuming umbrella cocktails! If you would have told me two years ago that four days could totally rejuvinate you I would have snickered, today however, I'm sold. That's all we needed and to tell you the truth, we were so ready to get on that plane (even if we were headed for a day and a half of delays) to see Hunter-we missed our little man. My Mom is dropping him off tomorrow and I can't wait to have H in my arms again. Anyway, a little husband and wife time is a must...what fun to reconnect, get spoiled with massages, eat well, drink well, share thoughts and laughs and relax together without the crazieness of everyday life around you. It's back to reality...bring it!

The storm before the calm

It's nuts here at our household. Anarchy. Nelson and I are going away for our first holiday sans child and I'm in full preparation mode. I've been prepping for a week (at least). As my WGW girlfriends know I'm an obsessive packer and I'm in the midst of it right now. I'm packing for Hunter who will stay with my parents, I've packed him a bag of clothes, diapers, wipes and other "stuff", then I have a bag of food for him as well. I'm also packing my bag which is the nightmare because it takes me so long to pack and I'm quite particular about it. I love to pack to the nines. That means...ironed everything. I'm talking everything. And then wrapped in tissue (if necessary) and placed in plastic bags. I know, I know a little much but my trip will be that much better with a fantastically packed bag with lots of ironed outfits to choose from and toiletries galore. Anyway, I'm almost finished cleaning the house and about an hours work away from having my holiday bag complete! Can't wait to hit the beach with the husband in a few days...bring on the boat drinks!

Quote of the day...

I was thinking about how grateful I am for everything in my life then I came across this quote today and it personified my feelings exactly.

For each new morning with its light,
For rest and shelter of the night,
For health and food, for love and friends,
For everything Thy goodness sends.

~Ralph Waldo Emerson

I am grateful for all of these things and more. What are you grateful for?

Is there anything better than frosting?

I'll answer that for you...nope! I just finished making valentine cupcakes and the best part was stealing some of the frosting...alrighty most of it. I'm back at my old tricks "girling" up the house with festive stuff. I'm having about 8 moms and their kids over thursday so I thought I'd serve these for a little post V-day fun. Tomorrow I'm planning on making heart shaped brownies with frosting-hello! Should be a perfect time to bake since we are expecting a snow storm tomorrow-yippee! Happy Valentines Eve!

Cape Cod Day Trip

Hunter and I packed up the car this am and took a day trip to the Cape to see GiGi. We went to the Quarterdeck for some "chowdah" and then GiGi spoiled Hunter with a new sweater! Isn't it the cutest!???? I just love it and so does Dad-can't wait to see the little man in it! Well, it's been a busy one so I'm off to tidy up...per the usual:)

Tale of a trim

Seriously now, someone give me a valium. I "trimmed" Hunters hair today for the first time. Honest to Pete I only took off the smallest bit yet somehow he's totally changed. I had tears in my eyes. He really looks like a little boy. He's only 13 1/2 months and I'm feeling a little nuts about how fast this is going by. Sometimes I wish this growing up process would sloooooooooooow down. I am elated at how this journey with our son has unfolded so far though so I can't complain. He's my little comedian and my wicked hugger. He woke up from his nap today (he was on the den floor) and I was lying next to him, he looked at me, smiled and put his arm around my neck to bring me closer and hug me. He did this twice. It really is the little things that make this ride so damn fun. I guess I have to come to grips with this turning into a little boy thing...I'm sure the best is yet to come, bring it on!

Quote of the day

Making the decision to have a child - it's momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking outside your body.

Elizabeth Stone

Hearts a go-go

Well, I'm not completely sold on these but they are what they are I suppose. I saw this paper heart wreath and swag in some old Martha Stewart mag and I went ahead and made them. Hey, it jazzes up the front door and mantle. Next year I'm definitely making the flower wreath from my previous post. Anyway, I have to add a little fun to the house for my boys even though I get teased that I'm "girling" up the place. They shouldn't open their mouths (I'm referring to my husband who eggs on my little guy) because the decorating is only going to get worse as time goes by...but I know they secretly love it:) Bring on the holidays!

A visit from Paris

"My friends are my estate."- Emily Dickinson

My girlfriend Katie who has lived in Paris for the last 7 years or so emailed me the other day that she was in Boston and was hoping we could meet for lunch. Lucky for me my mum was more than willing and able to watch Hunter while I met my posh Parisian for lunch. What a treat! Do you have those friends that you don't see for months or even years and yet when you do it's as if you were never apart? Well, she's one of "them". I'm so lucky to have such a dear friend in my life. I have a few of them and they don't come along often. My mother always said if you can count your best friends on one hand you should consider yourself lucky. So, I'm doing just that. Katie looked amazing, I loved the new hair and although I hate her being so far away I must admit France has worn very well on her!

Quote of the day

We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give. -- Winston Churchill

I heart this wreath

Alrighty...what's with these Valentine wreaths that I see adorned on so many front doors? I'll tell you what's with them, they're A-dorable! I must admit after living in cities for the past 15 years or so, life in the burbs is opening my eyes up to some new and exciting things! I never thought I'd be into "door decorating" but I hope to make this one of my projects this week. I'm going to get my Martha Stewart on...watch out boring front door you're about to get a fab February makeover!

Hurts so good

I sware sometimes it feels as if my heart is going to explode right out of my chest. It's pretty amazing the physical effects love has on your body. The fact of the matter is that there is no question my love for Hunter seems to grow exponentially by the day. I'm not quite sure my body can handle how much I'm going to adore him in 5 years even...I better prepare myself somehow or else I'm in trouble. Seeing my husband being such an amazing father to his son is probably the biggest joy he's given me yet...besides my son of course. I was watching Hunter play with my parents today and I could barely stand it. He loves them to death and it's quite obvious that they mirror his affection. I love watching my parents interact with him, maybe because it reminds me of my childhood and how much they've loved and continue to love me. This got me thinking that you never truly understand how much your parents love you until you have your own. And then bam. You get it. You get all of the sacrifices, the advice, the worrying, the listening, the lessons and the love that they've given you through the years. And all of this given unconditionally and at any time. I've always known how much my parents loved me, always, but I've never understood the depths of how much a parent could love a child. I do now though. One of the most wonderful things about parenthood for me is that it's been the most unselfish part of my life yet. It feels great. My day is not about me anymore. It's not about getting to work on time, buying that outfit of the week, getting my weekly pedicure...it's all about making sure I'm loving my family well. Because at the end of the day, really, what else matters? Not much. Not much at all.

Lobster Trap

I think I have to snag these swimming trunks from Boden for H. They are too cute!

The life of a serial napper....

I'm enjoying a few minutes of down time while the Mr. takes a snooze. We're headed out to Paiges this afternoon for a playdate-should be fun! I was just invited to a b-day party Friday night (no husbands allowed) and I'm looking forward to it. I'm really looking forward to the consumption of sushi and a few Grey Goose concoctions! Hopefully I will feel fantastic come Saturday (meaning no headache) because i'm taking Hunter to a birthday party. I'm hoping to track down a bead store this afternoon in Scituate...I'm searching for coral beads and coin pearls specifically so that I can create a fantastic bracelet! So far I'm having a ball making bracelets...hopefully within a few months I will have created a line/look. I'll post a few pics soon of the bracelets for your viewing pleasure!

Peek-A-Boo!

Da-Da is in L.A. today-if you are checking this- we miss you! Someone who shall remain nameless has been walking around the house all day yelling "Da...Da...Da" and I think he's quite dissapointed that "Da" hasn't shown his face. We played a mean game of peek-a-boo on the bed this afternoon and H was quite pleased with his hiding abilities. H was a hugging machine with his new friend Sophia today-he's already laying the charm on the ladies! Time to put the little man to bed! See you tomorrow Da!
