Well, Hunter and I had a little change in plans today. We went to Westport and hit the shops for a while (hello lovelies) and instead of the Children's' Museum I grabbed an iced coffee and we hit a little playground nearby, it was just too nice to be inside. We had so much fun! Met another mom and her two boys; Leo and Jasper and the boys all played together in the sand, they actually shared trucks and played together on the swings and on the slide for almost two hours. It was perfect. Then Hunter came with me to a dermatologist apt. I wanted to get a bump on my upper lip looked at that I noticed these past few months. Well, the Dr. wanted to biopsy it immediately, after looking at the biopsy cells she's 90% sure it's basal cell carcinoma (skin cancer), but we won't know for sure until the labs have their results. After the biopsy the Dr. told me if the results are positive we will have to discuss micrographic surgery. Excellent. (by the way...when I had the biopsy Hunter said "Mama don't jump"-he's such a sweetie) Well, this wasn't how I planned my day, it definitely took the wind out of my sails but what are you going to do? Fingers crossed she's not correct with her hunch. If she is, it's good thing I got it checked out and am dealing with it. It's totally curable. So, for all of you guys and gals out there...get a skin check before the summer starts! And thanks Hunter for making me smile during my ENTIRE Dr's visit:)

well if you're going to get cancer you got the best kind. good for you for staying on top of it. i have a girlfriend my age who has had the same kind on her scalp and back.
i am happy hunter was with you providing some much needed comic relief.

Getting a skin check is good advice. I hope everything turns out ok.
I'm sorry you're dealing with this! My dermatologist says it's the "best cancer" to get. Not that that makes you feel any better. I'm a nervous Nellie about skin and go 2x a year for checks - but I always think it's cancer and my derm is usually like, "really, it's fine." me: "are you sure????" "yes, really." Good luck with everything!!!!
Good lord. Here I am feeling sorry for my pukey self and you are dealing with the big C! I hope it's not the case. I'm glad you're on top of it though. so scary. I'm going to say some prayers for you asap. I know you'll be okay!

I always get a skin check when I go to the derm. I'm so nervous since I grew up out west and in the sun and by the pool. I'm a sunscreen natzi now. Unfortunately, most of my damage is on my face! The lovely hyperpigmentation hit me at 35 and I'm doing all I can to keep it under control. Thanks to my fabulous dermatologist! I do regret baking myself back in the day but back then, we didn't know all the damaging effects really, or thought it wouldn't happen to us! Crazy!

Thanks for all the sweet posts! One way or the other it will all be fine. Although I'm not shocked about this as I love being out in beautiful weather I have been diligent about SPF over the past 5 years. Even though my Derm says it's never too late to practice SPF care, I know I did a lot of damage when I was young. So, we'll see? Thanks again and I'll keep you posted:)

I'm so sorry to hear that...
I have had several basal cell cancer spots removed so now I slather on the sunscreen (and sunless tanner) and frequently check my skin for changes.
