A good friend of mine sent me a bunch of quotes by Maya and this one resonated with me...
"I've learned that making a "living" is not the same thing as "making a life."
So true. I've heard it before but thought I'd share it. For me, making a life sure is much more fulfilling than making a living...no matter how much you love your job. I L-O-V-E-D my job in Advertising but without my family and friends, outside interests, and stopping to smell the roses every once and a while...what's life? You know what I'm sayin'?

I hear you loud and clear!!!!
I argue with my mother all the time about how to measure success! My take not, always $$$, but how fulfilled you feel at the end of the end of the day!
xci hear what you're saying! i agree with what maya has said...the pursuit of a life should be more valuable than the pursuit of a living. it is a challenge...one that requires us to stay grounded and keep our lives within a highly personal, customized perspective.
how funny that i just read this....i just got back from a "parade of homes" tour. you know that feeling of fighting back pure envy after seeing how the other half lives? i was fighting and then i read this and i have to say "thanks" for keeping it real. it reminded me that contentment and/or being grateful is a choice.
life is good.

HP-I do know what you are talking about! I like reading quotes like that because they make me think, help me put myself back in check with life whenever i get off course and as you say it truly does remind you like you said "contentment and/or gratefulness is a choice"! It's good to have choices:)
hqm-so true! The feeling of fulfillment at the end of the day is what it's all about:)
